Animated weather forecast for video, with your numbers or the real ones
A forecast card turns up in travel vlogs, local news, event promos and city guides. Weather templates come in packs with fixed cities and fixed days, and you retype every temperature by hand.
Here the forecast is part of the prompt. You can give exact numbers, like in the example, or name a city and let the plugin fetch the real 7 day forecast.
The prompt behind this clip
This exact text produced the clip above, word for word:
📝
Weather widget for Tbilisi, Georgia, use these exact numbers, not live data: now 24°C, sunny, high 26° low 15°. 5-day forecast: Mon 24° sunny, Tue 22° partly cloudy, Wed 17° rain, Thu 19° cloudy, Fri 25° sunny. The icons animate: sun rays turn, clouds drift, rain drops fall. All labels in English.
Settings: 16:9, 1080p, 60 fps, 7 seconds. The page plays a smaller copy of the render.
How to make it in Premiere
Open your project and go to Window → Extensions → Butter Motion. The panel docks next to your other windows, so you never leave the edit.
Set the chips under the prompt to match your sequence: 16:9 and your sequence frame rate, 7 seconds for a five day forecast. Matching aspect, resolution and frame rate means the clip lands on the timeline with nothing to conform.
Leave Background on With background if the graphic fills the frame. Pick Transparent if it should sit on top of your footage: you get a MOV with alpha (ProRes 4444), and it needs an empty video track above the shot.
Leave the tier on Ultra, the default, in the box left of the Generate button. Flash is cheaper and fine for a quick draft.
Paste the prompt, put in your own text and numbers, and press ↑ (or Cmd+Enter / Ctrl+Enter). The card goes through queued, generating, checking layout and rendering. It takes a few minutes, and you can keep cutting while it works.
On the result screen, choose Unlock customization (free for subscribers) to change text, colours and fonts by hand, or type a change into the Tweak bar ("make the rain drops smaller").
Press To timeline. The clip is rendered on your computer, imported into the «ButterMotion» bin and placed at the playhead.
What to change for your forecast
Your own numbers. List the temperatures and conditions per day, as in the example. When the prompt has its own figures, the plugin uses exactly those and fetches nothing. "Use these exact numbers, not live data" makes that explicit.
The real forecast. Write "weather in Lisbon for the week, flat widget" with no numbers and the plugin gets the real current temperature and 7 day forecast for that city from Open-Meteo. See Live data.
Language of the labels. "All labels in English" (or any other language) keeps the day names consistent.
Style. Add "minimal card", "glass widget" or switch to the Animation tier with the Watercolor style for an illustrated forecast.
Over a shot of the city. Generate with Transparent and the widget sits on top of your footage.
Why not a template
A weather pack is a set of fixed cards you fill in day by day. A generated card is built for the days, units and language you ask for, can pull the real forecast, and keeps its numbers editable in the controls.
What it costs
One generation at the tier you picked: Flash 7 credits, Ultra 10, Animation 15. Transparency, resolution, frame rate and length do not change the price. For subscribers the controls and the first tweak on each generation are free, and each tweak after that is 5 credits. Rendering and dropping the clip on the timeline cost nothing, and there is no watermark. Plans and credit packs are in the pricing section, the details in How credits work.
