Testimonial animation for a promo video, made in Premiere Pro

⚠️

The person, the handle, the company, the quote and the face in this clip are made up for the example, the photo is AI-generated. It is not a review of Butter Motion.

A customer quote is the slide every promo, case study and landing page video needs, and the one that gets rebuilt every time the client sends a new review. Templates come with a stock face and a fixed text length, so a long quote overflows and a short one looks empty.

Here the quote, the name, the role and the rating go into the prompt, the customer's photo is attached, and the card is laid out around that exact text.

The prompt behind this clip

This exact text produced the clip above, word for word:

📝

Customer testimonial with this photo in a round avatar, a big quotation mark and a 5.0 rating with stars. Quote: "Our editors stopped waiting on the design team." Daniel Owusu, Head of Video at Northwave

Settings: 16:9, 1080p, 60 fps, 6 seconds. The page plays a smaller copy of the render.

A photo was attached to this prompt with the + button in the composer (Add Reference), and it became the round avatar.

How to make it in Premiere

  1. Open your project and go to Window → Extensions → Butter Motion. The panel docks next to your other windows, so you never leave the edit.
  2. Set the chips under the prompt to match your sequence: 16:9 and your sequence frame rate, 6 seconds for a one sentence quote. Matching aspect, resolution and frame rate means the clip lands on the timeline with nothing to conform.
  3. Leave Background on With background if the graphic fills the frame. Pick Transparent if it should sit on top of your footage: you get a MOV with alpha (ProRes 4444), and it needs an empty video track above the shot.
  4. Leave the tier on Ultra, the default, in the box left of the Generate button. Flash is cheaper and fine for a quick draft.
  5. Paste the prompt, put in your own text and numbers, and press ↑ (or Cmd+Enter / Ctrl+Enter). The card goes through queued, generating, checking layout and rendering. It takes a few minutes, and you can keep cutting while it works.
  6. On the result screen, choose Unlock customization (free for subscribers) to change text, colours and fonts by hand, or type a change into the Tweak bar ("make the quote type in slower").
  7. Press To timeline. The clip is rendered on your computer, imported into the «ButterMotion» bin and placed at the playhead.

What to change for your client

Why not a template

A testimonial template is built for a quote of one length and a photo of one shape. A generated card is laid out for your text, keeps the text and colours editable, and the next customer is a text change instead of another evening in After Effects.

What it costs

One generation at the tier you picked: Flash 7 credits, Ultra 10, Animation 15. Transparency, resolution, frame rate and length do not change the price. For subscribers the controls and the first tweak on each generation are free, and each tweak after that is 5 credits. Rendering and dropping the clip on the timeline cost nothing, and there is no watermark. Plans and credit packs are in the pricing section, the details in How credits work.
