iPhone notification animation for your edit, without a template

A message popping up on a phone is one of the most common inserts in vlogs, explainers and ads: the reminder before the meeting, the bank alert, the text from a friend. Templates give you one fixed phone and one fixed layout, and the text is always a little too small.

Here you describe the screen and the notification, and the plugin draws it at real iOS size with your app name, time and message.

The prompt behind this clip

This exact text produced the clip above, word for word:

📝

iPhone lock screen in the middle of the frame: time 9:41, Thursday, September 25. A single push notification slides down from the top at real iOS size: Calendar, "Design review in 15 minutes, Room 4B". Frosted glass, readable text, dark background around the phone.

Settings: 16:9, 1080p, 60 fps, 6 seconds. The page plays a smaller copy of the render.

How to make it in Premiere

  1. Open your project and go to Window → Extensions → Butter Motion. The panel docks next to your other windows, so you never leave the edit.
  2. Set the chips under the prompt to match your sequence: 16:9 for a landscape edit or 9:16 for Reels and Shorts, 6 seconds is enough for one notification. Matching aspect, resolution and frame rate means the clip lands on the timeline with nothing to conform.
  3. Leave Background on With background if the graphic fills the frame. Pick Transparent if it should sit on top of your footage: you get a MOV with alpha (ProRes 4444), and it needs an empty video track above the shot.
  4. Leave the tier on Ultra, the default, in the box left of the Generate button. Flash is cheaper and fine for a quick draft.
  5. Paste the prompt, put in your own text and numbers, and press ↑ (or Cmd+Enter / Ctrl+Enter). The card goes through queued, generating, checking layout and rendering. It takes a few minutes, and you can keep cutting while it works.
  6. On the result screen, choose Unlock customization (free for subscribers) to change text, colours and fonts by hand, or type a change into the Tweak bar ("move the phone higher").
  7. Press To timeline. The clip is rendered on your computer, imported into the «ButterMotion» bin and placed at the playhead.

What to change for your story

Why not a template

A notification template is a fixed phone with a fixed banner, so every video that uses it looks the same. A generated one follows your prompt: the app, the wording, the time of day, a light or dark wallpaper, and it renders in the frame rate and resolution of your sequence.

What it costs

One generation at the tier you picked: Flash 7 credits, Ultra 10, Animation 15. Transparency, resolution, frame rate and length do not change the price. For subscribers the controls and the first tweak on each generation are free, and each tweak after that is 5 credits. Rendering and dropping the clip on the timeline cost nothing, and there is no watermark. Plans and credit packs are in the pricing section, the details in How credits work.
